A madrassah teacher was taken into custody by the police for torturing and abusing a 10-year-old seminary student in Rawalpindi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The incident took place in the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station in Rawalpindi. As per the first information report, the father of the victim said that the teacher brutally tortured his son for wearing a torn prayer cap.

A Rawalpindi police spokesman said that the medical report of the student was being finalized and justice will be delivered to the victim’s family.

It is necessary to mention here that in 2025, an Additional Sessions Court sentenced a teacher to life imprisonment for assaulting a student, marking a strong precedent against abuse within educational institutions.

Judge Afshan Ijaz Sufi announced the verdict, handing down a life sentence to Muhammad Afzal, along with a fine of Rs200,000 and Rs500,000 in compensation to the victim.

The case was originally registered in May 2022 at Nasirabad Police Station, following a complaint filed by the victim’s family.

The judgment underscored the court’s resolve to ensure accountability in cases of violence and abuse against students, which have drawn increasing public concern in recent years.
