The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) DG Irfan Ali Kathia said on Wednesday that the next 48 hours were quite important as far as the River Ravi was concerned as floodwater will pass through Shahdara tonight, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He further said it was after 39 years that there was such a high flood in the river.
He added that all arrangements were complete to deal with the situation, arising out of floods as additional funds had been released to the concerned departments. “Rs900 million have been dished out for looking after the flood-affected people,” he informed.
He said that at no place, was there a dearth of resources.
Kathia went on to say that the River Indus was in high flood. “The River Sutlej is also in flood,” he said, adding that a record increase was witnessed in the water level in Nullah Dek on Tuesday.
“The River Chenab is in high flood at Head Marala,” the DG informed.
