Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said the accused involved in last week's suicide bombing in Islamabad have been arrested.
While talking to the 24NewsHD TV channel exclusively on Tuesday, the minister said the defunct “Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan” (TTP) accepted the responsibility for the attack.
The incident took place last week in Islamabad, which claimed the life of a policeman and wounded several others.
The minister said the "taxi driver is innocent", and he was not involved in the attack as the suspects had taken the cab on rent from him. The suspects, according to Sanaullah, traveled from Kurram Agency to Rawalpindi. The investigation of the arrested accused is going on and soon all the facts will be revealed shortly.
He said they are not afraid of the dissolution of the Punjab assembly. “They are adopting constitutional ways to keep the assembly intact. They cannot become part of the dissolution of the assembly,” he asserted
Rana Sanaullah said that they will agree with the decision taken by the Lahore High Court on January 11. “Meanwhile, Pervaiz Elhi cannot take the vote of confidence.”
He said that the economy cannot be put on the right track unless there is a charter of economy among all political parties.
“Everyone will have to sit together on the economy, it is not a matter of just one person.”
Regarding the Islamabad Capital LG amendment bill, he said it is the right of the government. We have decided that the number of union councils should be more, he added.
Rana Sanaullah hinted that a direct election would be held for the mayor of Islamabad. It is a good thing if there is an election of mayor, PTI itself has demanded it, he maintained.
He also welcomed the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan regarding the local elections. “If the decision is not accepted by PTI, instead of campaigning against the institutions, it should appeal to the Supreme Court,” he advised.
Taking a jibe at PTI Chairman Imran Khan, he said the destruction of the economy has been brought about by PTI led government.
