Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi presided over a meeting of the cabinet committee on smog, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.

Experts showed up at the meeting that mulled over measures to stem the smog. The participants, environmentalists and health experts deliberated upon the matter and expressed resolve to continue anti-smog combat with full force.

The chief minister stressed the need for a comprehensive strategy to cope with the challenge.

“We do not have research. We cannot control smog through lip service. We have to do something … something special,” he stressed.

The chief minister urged the people to adopt safety measures to avert smog-sparked hazards. He laid stress on wearing masks to avert respiratory issues.

Chinese experts will come to Lahore next week, and a study by international consultants will be conducted to bring out the real reasons for the smog.

The chief minister ordered intensifying the anti-smog combat and stern action against the dealer of substandard petrol and diesel which cause pollution.

He issued directives to go for proper cleansing of the road instead of taking cosmetic measures.

Provincial Ministers Dr Javed Akram, Mansoor Qadir, Aamir Mir, Azfar Ali Nasir and officials concerned attended the meeting.
