Scheduled examinations at two major universities in the capital city, Bahria University and Air University, have been postponed, triggering frustration and uncertainty among students, 24News HD TV reported on Saturday.
According to sources, students of both universities were informed via SMS that examinations scheduled for December 27 and 28 had been postponed.
The messages cited restricted access around Shaheen Chowk as the reason for the decision, adding that new examination dates would be announced later by the respective heads of departments.
However, no official notification has so far been issued by either university, further adding to confusion among students.
Several students expressed concern that the sudden postponement has disrupted their exam preparations and may also lead to delays in the semester break.
The situation has emerged as construction work on the Shaheen Chowk underpass enters its final phase.
The underpass, located at the intersection of 9th Avenue and Khayaban-e-Iqbal, has been under construction for a prolonged period, severely affecting traffic flow in the area. Diversions and restricted routes have caused persistent inconvenience for commuters.
A few days ago, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the project site and directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to ensure that the remaining work is completed without further delay.
Officials said that most of the structural work on the underpass has been completed, while road carpeting and finishing work are currently underway.
According to the CDA, the underpass is expected to be ready for inauguration next week.
Once operational, it is hoped that the project will significantly ease long-standing traffic congestion in one of Islamabad’s busiest areas.
Meanwhile, students continue to await a formal announcement from the universities regarding revised examination schedules.
