Temperatures have plunged, road connections have been severed, bringing life to a standstill, following heavy snowfall in upper and western parts of the country during the last 24 hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Gorakh Hill in Sindh has also received snow due to which nighttime temperature dropped to -2 degrees Celsius at the hill station on Tuesday.
On the other hand, heavy snowfall in and around Murree has forced the authorities to close the Expressway so that tourists could be prevented from entering the hill station.
Galyat have received over one foot of snow so far, leading to the closure of roads.
The situation is no different in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) where it has been snowing for the last 24 hours.
Over 10 feet of snow has been recorded at Nanga Parbat and Babusar Top.
Likewise, Diamer, Chilas and other areas have also been covered in snow, while plains in the region have received rain, prompting the authorities to advise people to avoid travelling on Karakoram Highway.
Heavy snowfall has also been reported from Swat, Upper and Lower Dir, Khyber, Mansehra, Naran, Kaghan, Shogran in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) due to which the supply of power to some of these areas has been suspended while temperatures have nosedived.
The local administration has urged tourists to avoid travelling to these areas unnecessarily and if it is inevitable, keep food items, warm clothes with them besides keeping fuel tanks of their vehicles full.
Road users have also been urged to immediately report to the police in case their vehicles get stuck in snow.
Similarly, there are thick layers of snow in Quetta, Ziarat, Kalat and Chaman in Balochistan, leading to the closure of roads and cutting off towns and villages from each other.
Temperatures have dropped considerably in these areas.
The minimum temperature in Chaman was recorded at -5 degrees Celisus.
It was -10 at Toba Achakzai and -8 at Kozak Top.
On the other hand, rain has been reported from Qila Abdullah, Pishin Muslim Bagh and other areas of the province.
PDMA staffers busy removing snow from roads
The employees of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in KP and Punjab are on their toes and are busy removing snow from the highways.

In order to protect the lives of the people travelling through train, Pakistan Army personnel have taken positions around rail tracks in Balochistan.
More rain, snow to come
On the other hand, the weather department on Tuesday forecast intermittent rainfall for the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Chakwal, Attock, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot and Narowal during the next 24 hours.
Likewise, rain and snow over the hills were predicted for Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Gujranwala, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Boner, Peshawar, Nowshera, Swabi, Malakand, Mardan, Kohat, Kurram, Khyber, Hangu, Bajaur, Bannu, Dera Ismael Khan and Waziristan.
Similarly, the Met Office said that Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Garhi Dopatta, Kotli, Gilgit, Skardu, Chilas and Astore were also likely to receive rain and snow during the aforementioned period.
