Chasing a modest 111-run target, the Green Shirts were in a hurry as they scored 61 runs in the mandatory powerplay, losing Hamza Zahoor on 11-ball 8.
Samaeer Minhas was brilliant with the bat and went on to treat the New Zealand bowlers with great contempt, scoringan unbeaten 59-ball 76, studded with 10 boundaries and two towering sixes and a great strike rate of 128.21.
Usman Khan was removed by Luke Harrison. He made 15 off 24 balls.
Skipper Farhan Yousaf remained unbeaten for his 11 runs as Pakistan reached home with 197 balls remaining.
Opting to field first, Pakistan’s deadly bowling attack bamboozled the New Zealand batters.
The Kiwis were bowled out for a meagre 110 runs, collapsing in the face of superb bowling by the Pakistanis.
Fast bowler Abdul Subhan took four wickets, while Ali Raza took three wickets. Mohammad Sayyam (1-35) and Momin Qamar (1-21) took a scalp each.
Ahmed Hussain (0-70) remained wicketless in the three overs he bowled.
The Green Shirts’ bowlers had mounted pressure on the New Zealand batters from the first delivery, with Marco William Alpe was the first batter to depart on 2.
The wicket of Alpe opened the floodgates and only Hugo Bogue showed some resistance with the bat, scoring 27-ball 39, lacing with six fours and two boundaries.
Skipper Tom Jones was undone by Abdul Subhan. Snehith Reddy (6), Jacob Cotter (2), Brandon Mazopoulos (0), Jaskaran Sandhu (0), Callum Samson (10), Mason Clarke (17), Hunter Shore (13), Luke Harrison failed to show significant resistance with the bat.
Luke Harrison (2) remained unbeaten. The Black Caps were bundled out for 110 inside the 28th over.
