The federal cabinet has approved amendments to the Official Secret Act 1923, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
According to sources, the move is aimed at harmonizing the act with modern requirements.
According to sources, the amendments will enable a framework for more integrated roles and coordination of major investigation agencies, the insiders said, adding that the changes will help protect sensitive information.
These will also elaborate on the role of a joint investigation team (JIT) in matters of classified information.
