An alarming increase in polio virus cases has been witnessed in the country as two fresh cases have been confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) while one in Sindh, taking the total number of cases of the disease reported so far this year to 17, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to the NEOC, fresh cases have been reported from North Waziristan, Lakki Marwat and Umarkot in Sindh.
The NEOC has said that children with weak immunity are more vulnerable to fall prey to the virus.
It has further said that the children, whose parents refuse to get them vaccinated against the disease, are a risk for other children as well.
The NEOC has urged parents to get their children vaccinated, saying it is only by repeatedly administering them polio drops that they can be prevented from falling prey to the disease.
