Chinese ambassador calls on PM Shehbaz, discusses regional developments

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister's House on Monday, where the two sides reaffirmed the Pakistan-China all-weather strategic partnership and discussed regional developments.

According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister's Office (Media Wing), Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, Adviser to the Prime Minister Dr Syed Tauqir Shah and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch were also present during the meeting.

The prime minister conveyed his warm regards and best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. Recalling his visit to China in May this year, he reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to the Pakistan-China all-weather strategic partnership.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said both countries would continue to work closely to implement the important decisions and agreements reached between the leadership of the two countries for the mutual benefit of their peoples.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the regional situation, including developments in the Middle East, Afghanistan and South Asia.

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked the prime minister for receiving him and said China regarded Pakistan as an "iron brother." He reiterated that China would continue to extend its full support to Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity while further strengthening the country's socio-economic development.
