Repatriation of illegal foreigners expedited as more illegal Afghan nationals who had been residing in Lahore since 2005 were arrested and shifted to holding centers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
A spokesman for Lahore police said that 1,918 Afghan nationals were sent back to their homes and 31 to jail.
The spokesman further added that 56 arrested illegal Afghan nationals were shifted to holding centers.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kimyana said that all measures are being used to ensure smooth repatriation of illegal Afghan nationals from the provincial capital.
Bilal Siddique Kimyana further directed the Divisional Superintendents of Police to monitor the repatriation of illegal Afghan nationals by themselves.
He directed the Divisional Superintendents of Police to expedite the process of repatriation of all those Afghan nationals who are living after expiry of their visa
Officials said the repatriation was carried out in accordance with the government’s ongoing policy for the return of illegal foreign nationals.
Officials said that the district administration and law enforcement agencies continued to coordinate closely to ensure that the repatriation process was conducted in a safe, dignified and organised manner.
