The federal Interior Ministry on Friday issued a formal notification for the deployment of the Pakistan Army and civil armed forces across all provinces, including Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan, to ensure law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the notification, the deployment has been made under Article 245 of the Constitution, which authorises the use of armed forces in aid of civil power.
The decision, approved by the federal cabinet, comes as part of a comprehensive security strategy aimed at maintaining peace and preventing any untoward incidents during the sensitive days of Muharram.
The army and civil armed forces will work in coordination with provincial governments and district administrations, assisting local law enforcement agencies in maintaining public order and safeguarding religious gatherings and processions.
“The number of personnel to be deployed will be determined based on the ground realities and local security requirements,” the notification stated.
