One person was killed and five others, including three police personnel, were injured when unidentified armed men opened fire on a police check post in Ziarat, Balochistan, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
According to initial reports, the deceased was identified as a member of the Tablighi Jamaat who was present near the check post at the time of the attack.
The firing also left three police officials and two civilians injured.
All the wounded were shifted to the DHQ Hospital for medical treatment.
Following the incident, angry residents staged protests against the attack, forcing the closure of Ziarat city as businesses and markets remained shut.
Police and other law enforcement agencies launched a search operation in the area to trace the attackers and determine the motive behind the assault.
