The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Sunday suspended the grade-19 officer, Additional Commissioner FBR Huma Sarwar, appointed at the Regional Tax Office in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sources claimed that FBR took the decision because the grade-19 officer was on unapproved leave.
The sources further claimed that Huma Sarwar was suspended for four months on the direction of FBR Chairman Dr Ashfaq Ahmed.
The FBR has sent the suspension orders of Additional Commissioner Huma Sarwar to the Chief Commissioner RTO Office Lahore.
Earlier, Pakistan Customs (FBR) Quetta had seized 11 containers fully stuffed with smuggled goods valuing Rs450 million. The FBR Chairman has appreciated courageous efforts of the team customs for ensuring zero tolerance against smuggling.
