Those who thought that loadshedding was a thing of the past are proved wrong, as it has been decided that the people in Lahore would have to face power outages after Eid, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Reportedly, the decision has been taken due to the increase in demand because of extremely hot weather, as sources say loadshedding would be started from May 28 (Thursday).
Despite the fact that commercial and industrial sectors are closed, the Lahore Electricity Supply Company (LESCO) is experiencing a demand of 3,400 megawatts of electricity.
And it is said that the demand will cross 4,000 megawatts when the two sectors are opened.
In this scenario, the LESCO, on the directives of the Power Division, will carry out outages under three categories.
According to details, the feeders with line losses of less than 20 percent would be exempted from power outages. However, the feeders with 30 percent losses will face three hours of daily loadshedding with the period increasing to five hours in the case of those with 40 percent losses.
Meanwhile, the loadshedding hours would be six in areas where feeders are experiencing more than 50 percent line losses.
In the holy month of Ramazan, power outages were reduced but the LESCO is going to increase the duration in the areas where power theft is rampant.
