In an alleged attempt to accommodate those affiliated with the PTI, the Punjab Baitul Maal modified a 17-year-old law, changing the eligibility criterion for the District Daitul Maal Council.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the previous law said that those contesting the elections – national and provincial assemblies as well as local government – were not eligible for the chairmanship of the District Baitul Maal council.
However, the Punjab Baitul Maal has now replaced the words those contesting the elections with elected representatives.
These changes, according to sources, are a clear attempt to accommodate the PTI ticket holders so that they could occupy the said posts.
