Pakistani cinema icons Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed were honored at a special ceremony in the UAE as part of their promotional tour for the upcoming romantic comedy Love Guru. The recognition came from Pakistani Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, according to a statement released by the envoy’s office on Tuesday.
The actors have been actively promoting Love Guru with a global tour that includes stops in the US, UK, and Canada. The tour has featured red carpet events, fan meet-and-greets, and exclusive press interviews ahead of the film’s release during the Eid Al-Adha holiday next month.
“Ambassador Tirmizi presented commemorative shields to the artists, celebrating their dedication and achievements,” the Pakistan Embassy in the UAE said in its statement.
In his remarks, the ambassador emphasized Pakistan’s vibrant cultural and artistic landscape, noting the importance of the creative industries in shaping the country’s global image through soft power.
Love Guru recently made history when its trailer was screened at New York City’s Times Square—the first time a Pakistani film has been featured on the iconic digital billboards. The event drew a crowd of fans, passersby, and members of the South Asian diaspora, who watched the stars unveil the trailer in person.
In the film, Humayun Saeed plays a charming flirt who pretends to be a relationship guru, all in an effort to woo Mahira Khan’s character, a talented architect.
