Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has stated that Karachi has always been, and will always remain, part of Sindh, rejecting any suggestion that the city could be handed over to the federal government.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, speaking to reporters after offering Eid-ul-Azha prayers on Wednesday, Sharjeel said that discussions regarding a possible 28th constitutional amendment were purely speculative and that no consultation had taken place with the provincial government on the matter.

Sharjeel Memon also confirmed that the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) would not be discontinued, saying it plays a vital role in supporting poor and deserving women across the country.

He emphasised the need for governance based on brotherhood, tolerance and mutual understanding, urging all stakeholders to promote harmony in society.

Extending Eid greetings to pilgrims and the wider Muslim world, he said the blessed occasion should serve as an opportunity to set aside differences and celebrate with unity and goodwill.

The minister also praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their reported role in efforts aimed at promoting global peace and stability.
