In order to meet IMF conditions on Civil Servants Assets Rules, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a notification to Amend Civil Servants Assets Rules 2023, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
According to a notification, definition of Civil Servant has been changed to Public Servant. The definition of Public Servant includes officers of Grade 17 and above. The officers of Federal and Provincial Governments, Autonomous Bodies and Corporations are included in the list.
The amended rules will be applicable to public servants. The persons exempted under the NAB Ordinance 1999 will not be included in this definition.
The amended draft was prepared under section 237 of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001. Earlier, the FBR had sought views and suggestions from the relevant stakeholders.
The FBR had released the draft last month for comments, objections and suggestions. The IMF executive meeting for Pakistan is scheduled for December 8 next month. The IMF board will review the release of $1.2 billion for Pakistan.
