At least five students were seriously injured on Monday when the sons of a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), Iftikhar Khan, allegedly ran their car into a group of students protesting against the university administration in Abbottabad.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the witnesses told the media that the incident occurred on the university campus where students were staging a peaceful demonstration over academic and administrative grievances.

During the protest, the sons of PTI lawmaker Iftikhar Khan reportedly arrived in a car and, in what demonstrators described as a deliberate act, drove the vehicle into the crowd of protesters.

As a result, five students sustained serious injuries and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The protesters alleged that the attackers were students of the same university and also leaders of the Insaf Student Federation (ISF), the student wing of PTI.

They claimed the car was driven at high speed in the presence of police, who failed to intervene.

Following the incident, tensions escalated on campus as students launched a renewed protest, demanding the arrest of the MPA’s sons and registration of a criminal case against them.

“The vehicle that ran over our fellow students belonged to MPA Iftikhar Khan’s family, and his sons were inside it,” one of the protesters said, vowing to continue the demonstration until arrests are made.

University officials and the local police have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
