Caretaker Energy Minister Muhammad Ali has told 24NewsHD TV channel in clear words that the matter of giving relief in electricity bills is over now, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
“There was a plan to provide relief to people consuming 400 units and then 200 units of electricity. [But] the people had paid the electricity bills till the talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the settlement of all the issues,” the energy minister claimed.
“The relief to people consuming up to 200 units of electricity was not a big amount. So, the relief plan was terminated,” he added.
“The October 1 price cut of petroleum products depends on next week. It is to be seen what is the situation of crude oil prices and dollar rate in the world market next week,” he stated.
“The cabinet is going to take an important decision regarding the privatisation of Discos and handing them over to the provinces. The management of the Discos can also be outsourced to the private sector,” he told 24NewsHD TV channel.
“Electricity thieves, big or small, are all equal to us. Action is being taken against all electricity thieves. We are consulting with the Azad Kashmir government for the recovery of Rs60 billion,” he added.
