Arsalan’s blistering half-century guided SAMAA News to a commanding six-wicket victory over RISJA in a Group B clash of the 2nd RISJA Inter Media Cricket Tournament at the National Cricket Ground on Saturday.
RISJA, batting first after winning the toss, posted 128-5 in their allotted 15 overs.
Skipper Ahmed Nawaz anchored the innings with an unbeaten 51 off 47 deliveries, while Kashif Majeed chipped in with a quick 21 from 14 balls, and Javed Khan added a rapid 17 off just 7.
Despite these contributions, SAMAA’s disciplined bowling attack, led by Arsalan, Wali Ullah and Javed Shah, restricted the flow of runs effectively.
In reply, SAMAA News chased down the target with ease, reaching 129 in only 12.5 overs while losing just four wickets. Arsalan stole the spotlight with a brilliant knock of 58 off 35 balls, keeping the chase firmly under control.
He received valuable support from Ejaz Bashir, who scored 22 off 21, and Taimoor, who smashed a quickfire 12 off 4.
For RISJA, Taha bowled with determination to claim 2-19, while Kashif Abbasi managed 1-27, but their efforts were not enough to prevent defeat.
