Rawalpindi police on Saturday shared key findings of an investigation into the suspected suicide of an Afghan couple.
The woman and her husband, both Afghan nationals, were found dead at a home in Bangash Colony in Pirwadhai police precincts in Rawalpindi.
Police have identified the boy as Amir, who came to Pakistan two months ago. The girl was identified as Sona, who had been living in Pakistan for a long time and was married. Her two-year-old son Arsalan also lived with her. Amir and Sona became friends through TikTok.
According to the police, Amir had promised to marry Sona. Amir came to Pakistan to marry her and the two got married. Amir promised to give Sona jewellery at the time of their marriage, but he did not fulfil this promise. The couple had a bitter argument on this issue four to five days ago.
Before their suspected suicide, Amir and Sona's relationship had gone sore. According to initial evidence collected by the police, Amir and Sona committed suicide. The police have collected all the evidence and started further investigation into the couple’s death.
