Registering a case against 250 PTI activists following allegations of violence, vandalism and the removal of government barriers at Attock Bridge on the Grand Trunk Road, Attock police have arrested eight suspects, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to police, the suspects removed metal plates fitted with spikes at the bridge and threw them into the River Indus. They also damaged property, raised slogans and created disorder at the site.
Police said some of the suspects recorded videos of the incident and shared them on social media. Legal action will be taken against those found responsible for damaging government property, officials said.
The arrested suspects later apologised for their actions while in police custody. They also urged people to stay away from those involved in such activities and to cooperate with the police.
The suspects said they had made a mistake by interfering with official duties and pledged to cooperate with police in the future.
A case has been registered against the suspects under serious legal provisions, while further action is under way.
