The federal government has decided to establish three modern sports arenas in Islamabad to promote sports and encourage a healthy lifestyle among citizens, reported 24NewsHD TV.
The decision was taken on the directions of Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, with the project to be developed under the supervision of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman.
The sports arenas will be established in Sector D-12/1, G-11/3 Markaz and F-8 Markaz, offering international-standard sports and recreational facilities.
The facilities will include indoor swimming pools, modern gyms, futsal grounds, cricket nets, paddle courts, basketball courts, multipurpose sports halls and indoor play areas for children.
The arenas will also provide facilities for sports training, coaching, tournaments, leagues and community-based sporting activities.
The D-12/1 sports arena will cover approximately 4.2 acres, while the G-11/3 and F-8 facilities will span 3.5 acres and 3.2 acres, respectively.
According to the CDA, the project is expected to create around 360 jobs during the construction phase and 92 jobs during operations.
Citizens have welcomed the initiative, describing the establishment of the three sports arenas as an important step towards providing modern sporting facilities in the federal capital.
The CDA said the project is part of its efforts to transform Islamabad into a modern, healthy and vibrant capital city.
