Iranian Army Chief Major General Amir Hatami has warned that Iran will not accept a situation in which it is unable to trade while other countries continue using the Strait of Hormuz, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
“If Iran cannot trade, no one will be able to trade,” Hatami said, describing the Strait of Hormuz as a symbol of Iran’s dignity and honour.
He warned that Iran would not allow its enemies to benefit from the strategic waterway while the Iranian people were deprived of normal trade.
Hatami said the war had reached a critical and decisive stage and stressed Iran’s position over the strategic waterway.
Separately, Iranian Army spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said Iran’s armed forces were fully prepared for any renewed US attack.
Akraminia warned that the United States would suffer greater damage if it launched another attack on Iran.
His remarks came after US President Donald Trump rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the fighting.
