A suspected militant involved in an attack on players in Lakki Marwat was killed during a joint police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) operation, police said.
The suspect was identified as Manzoor, son of Izzat, a resident of Abdul Khel, who was also wanted by CTD Bannu in several serious terrorism cases.
The operation was launched after militants attacked players travelling in a rickshaw in Abdul Khel after returning from a match, killing three people and injuring three others.
Following the attack, a heavy contingent of police and CTD personnel reached the area on the directions of Lakki Marwat DPO Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada and cordoned off the area.
During the operation, police and CTD personnel exchanged fire with the militants, resulting in the death of Manzoor.
According to police records, Manzoor was wanted in seven cases registered between December 2024 and September 2026 on charges including attempted murder, attacks on police personnel, terrorism and other offences.
