The Lahore High Court has dissolved the two-member bench previously hearing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder’s bail petitions related to the events of May 9, officials confirmed on Monday.
The original bench, which comprised Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi and Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh, has been dissolved following a routine reshuffling of judicial rosters.
A new two-member bench, still headed by Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi, has been formed. Justice Tariq Mehmood Bajwa has now been included alongside Justice Rizvi to hear the bail applications filed by the PTI founder.
Starting May 5, the newly constituted bench will take up Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cases. Meanwhile, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh is set to take up his new assignment at the Bahawalpur Bench from the same date.
The Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court has officially approved and issued the fresh roster of judges.
The PTI founder had earlier filed separate bail applications in eight cases after the anti-terrorism court dismissed his initial pleas.
