Over 1,000 operations conducted against militants in 3 months, KP Police says in fresh report

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has released its performance report for the first three months of 2026, highlighting extensive operations against militants and criminal elements across the province.

According to the report, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out 1,087 intelligence-based operations targeting “Fitna-ul-Khawarij.” During these operations, 283 suspected terrorists were arrested, while 108 terrorists and their facilitators were killed. Those taken into custody included three key commanders and a female suicide bomber.

The report revealed that 194 terrorist attacks were carried out against police during this period, of which 106 were successfully foiled through timely action. However, 59 police officers and personnel were martyred and 88 others sustained injuries in the line of duty.

In the anti-narcotics drive, police registered 7,771 cases and arrested 7,751 suspects. Authorities recovered large quantities of drugs, including 5,695 kilograms of hashish, 275 kilograms of opium, 210 kilograms of heroin, 847 kilograms of crystal meth (ice) and 22,000 liters of alcohol.

The crackdown also extended to facilitators, with 5,528 informers arrested and 66 killed in police encounters.

Under the National Action Plan, a total of 6,684 search and rescue operations were conducted. Additionally, during targeted strike operations, 21,531 suspects were taken into custody.

The report noted that 43,221 suspects were arrested during 22,028 snap checking operations across the province.

Meanwhile, the Peshawar Safe City Project was inaugurated at a cost of Rs2.23 billion. The project includes the installation of 711 modern surveillance cameras aimed at enhancing security and monitoring capabilities in the provincial capital.
