In a move aimed at promoting renewable energy, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has removed the licensing requirement for solar users with systems up to 25 kilowatts.
The decision was taken on the special instructions of Federal Minister for Power Sardar Owais Ahmed Khan Leghari and upon a request from the Power Division.
Under the revised policy, consumers installing solar systems of 25 kW or below will no longer be required to obtain a licence, simplifying the process and encouraging wider adoption of solar energy.
For users installing systems exceeding 25 kW, a one-time fee of Rs1,000 per kilowatt will be applicable, officials said.
The development is being seen as a significant step toward facilitating renewable energy uptake and reducing procedural hurdles for small-scale solar consumers across the country.
