Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Rights Syed Rafiullah has written a letter to Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch, expressing concern over the condition of Pakistani nationals imprisoned in Cambodia and calling for urgent diplomatic intervention.
In his letter, Rafiullah stated that a number of Pakistani citizens are being held in Cambodian prisons under “extremely unfavorable conditions,” urging the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan to take immediate steps to secure their release and ensure their safe return to Pakistan.
He informed the Foreign Secretary about videos circulating of detained Pakistanis in Cambodia, highlighting the gravity of the situation and the need for swift action. The letter emphasizes that diplomatic efforts should be intensified to address the issue and safeguard the rights of Pakistani citizens abroad.
Alongside raising the issue, Rafiullah also acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic role in easing tensions between the United States and Iran, terming it commendable. He appreciated the government’s broader efforts toward promoting global peace.
The letter concludes with a call for urgent and effective measures to facilitate the repatriation of the affected individuals.
