The two accused who murdered two brothers for just Rs30 in Raiwind have been shot dead in an encounter with Crime Control Department (CCD) personnel in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

According to CCD officials, accused Owais and Shahzad were being taken for identification where their accomplice Tauqir and others attacked and tried to free them.

However, accused Tauqir escaped with his accomplices after failing to get freed the two accused.

The accused had earlier been booked for brutally torturing two brothers, Wajid and Rashid, after a quarrel with fruit vendors over Rs30 in Raiwind.

One brother succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while the other was hospitalized in critical condition and later died after slipping into coma.

The horrific incident drew nationwide condemnation after a video surfaced showing the brothers lying in blood as vendors beat them with sticks while bystanders looked on without intervening.

According to the video clip, the two brothers were lying in a pool of blood and the attackers holding clubs in hands were spotted torturing them at a public place with many onlookers and passersby standing around. No one from the passersby tried to rescue the two young men when they were being tortured by the attackers.

There were reports that the police traced and arrested two of the suspected attackers after lodging a case against them.

A police official said Wajid and Rashid had argued with a street vendor over the price of the fruit. He said the minor issue later led to the heated debate and then physical attack by the suspects.
Police later arrested Shahzad with the help of modern technology, while Owais was also taken into custody in connection with the murders.
