Senator Palwasha Khan and former MNA Sajida Khan have raised serious questions over the condition of PIMS Hospital following the deaths of 14 newborns in the fire incident, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Speaking outside PIMS, Senator Palwasha Khan said the hospital was in poor condition and questioned who would be held responsible for the deaths, adding that figures meant little without accountability.
Former MNA Sajida Khan said she came from Peshawar after hearing about the tragedy in PIMS’s children’s ward two days ago, describing the deceased children as innocent angels and that she was familiar with the hospital’s condition from her mother’s previous admission.
Sajida Khan questioned PIMS’s security arrangements, availability of doctors with same doctors working at private clinics and condition of medical equipment, saying proper measures should have been taken instead of simply installing locks.
Sajida Khan questioned how the fire started and spread to the incubators, calling the situation unacceptable and remarked that free healthcare for the poor had not functioned properly for four years.
She also questioned why members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee were joining the meeting so late and expressing urgent meeting should have been called after the tragedy.
