A total of 25,000 newborns has been registered in a 10-day registration drive in Faisalabad, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday,
The local authorities have rubbished the rumours of a high birth rate in Faisalabad.
Municipal Secretary Syed Mubasher Hussain said 50,184 birth certificates were issued during the campaign.
It is learnt that 25,184 children remained unregistered earlier and the parents rushed to the municipal corporation office as soon as they got to know about the drive.
According to officials, some children who got birth certificates in the campaign were more than one year old. Many children who are about seven also got registered.
