Punjab govt to restore thousands of district teachers

The Punjab government on Saturday decided to restore thousands of district teachers educators (DTEs) with immediate after passage of eight years, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Secretary Schools Education also issued directions to restore DTEs. Currently 4560 DTEs were performing their duties as teachers in Punjab and 113 in Lahore.

Eight years ago, in 2017 Punjab government seized DTEs ir authorities and deputed them to in different schools as teachers.

Now all the restored DTEs will restart providing training to teachers in the province.

Earlier, in June 2024, Punjab government lifted the ban on the transfer of teachers.

According to report, it is mandatory to give seniority number to apply for transfer and teachers without seniority number will not be able to apply online.

Women teachers are forced to visit the offices of the authorities to obtain seniority number and they demanded to remove the condition of seniority number for applying.

Teachers must spend at least three years in their school to apply and teachers with less than three years will not be able to apply for transfer.
