Wedding festivities turned sour in Sur Kamar area of Jamrud, district Khyber when the groom, a resident of Afghanistan, and his cousin were killed while two others were injured due to aerial firing, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Police reached the spot and took the man into custody.
The deceased groom was identified as Asad.
According to local residents, celebratory firing was underway when a stray bullet hit the groom, causing his death on the spot.
The injured individuals were rushed to Jamrud Civil Hospital for treatment.
However, the police were trying to ascertain whether it was a celebratory firing or there was any other motive behind it.
The incident plunged the entire area into a state of mourning.
Police have urged the people to refrain from aerial firing at weddings and other events, warning that such irresponsible acts often result in the loss of precious human lives.
