Amid heavy rain, hailstorms have wreaked havoc in Hafizabad and Narowal areas causing damages to wheat crops, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
According the scribes, heavy hailstorm in Narang Mandi covered the roads and crops with white blanket. Several cattle were reported to have been killed due to hailstorms. The hailstorms have created fear and panic among the poor farmers who were eyeing bumper crop. The Met office has predicted of more hailstorms in the area. Heavy showers and hailstorm was also reported in Nowshera Virkan areas.
The heavy rain and hailstorms was also reported in Lahore’s various areas.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a strong westerly wave prevails over most parts of Pakistan which will likely persist over upper parts till today night. Under these weather conditions, more rains and gusty winds with snowfall over the hills are expected in the twin cities and at isolated places in northeast/central Punjab, Pothohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday night. Partly cloudy and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country.
On Saturday and Sunday, mainly dry and partly cloudy weather is likely in most parts of the country. However, light rains and gusty winds with snowfall over the hills are expected at isolated places in Northern Areas and Gilgit-Baltistan. Shallow fog may develop at isolated places in central/south Punjab.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia has instructed deputy commissioners throughout the province to remain vigilant in light of the weather forecast. He emphasized the importance of departments concerned being alert to effectively deal with any emergency situations that may arise due to the adverse weather conditions.
Irfan Ali Kathia has also urged citizens to exercise caution during the inclement weather, advising them to stay away from electric poles and hanging wires to avoid accidents.
Furthermore, citizens are advised to seek shelter in safe places to minimize the risk of being struck by lightning. These precautionary measures are essential for ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals during periods of unpredictable weather conditions.
