The ministry of interior has said the news circulating on social media regarding the increase in the machine-readable passport (MRP) fee is incorrect.
According to a spokesperson of the ministry, there has been no increase in the fees for MRP.
However, the Directorate of Immigration and Passports has increased the fee schedule for the issuance of e-passports but not for MRP within the country.
The spokesperson further observed that the federal government has approved the issuance of e-passports but this facility will be launched shortly for Pakistani citizens.
