Former federal minister and Economic Policy and Business Development (EPBD) think tank Gohar Ejaz has warned that Pakistan’s exports to the European Union are at risk following the signing of the trade between the EU and India, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a post uploaded on X platform on Wednesday, Gohar Ejaz said “$9 billion exports last year to EU with market access at zero-tariff honeymoon is over as same zero tariffs to the EU are now applicable on all main regional competitors.”
The former minister said “The Government of Pakistan must enable textile industry to compete in the region at regional energy, tax, and financing costs.”
Gohar Ejaz warned “Industry can no longer bear the burden of systemic inefficiencies. The decision must be taken today — 9 billion dollars exports to the EU and 10 million jobs are at risk.”
