The deputy commissioner of Swat on Tuesday issued a threat alert for all educational institutions across the district, directing authorities to tighten security measures in view of recent incidents targeting schools and colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
According to an official letter circulated to relevant departments, special emphasis has been placed on strengthening security at girls schools. Universities, colleges and school administrations have been instructed to adopt additional precautionary measures to ensure the safety of both male and female students.
The alert urges administrations to enhance surveillance of internal and external routes of educational institutions and to keep communication systems fully functional at all times. Authorities have also been directed to immediately report any suspicious activity to law enforcement agencies.
Copies of the threat alert have been forwarded to police and intelligence agencies to ensure coordinated and effective security arrangements. Communication between district administration and security institutions has been intensified to further strengthen vigilance.
Educational institutions across Swat remain on high alert as authorities work to prevent any untoward incident and maintain a safe learning environment.
