Federal Minister for Health Syed Mustafa Kamal on Monday stressed the need for taking coordinated and effective measures to increase the coverage of the vaccination programme, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

He was chairing the Federal Directorate of Immunization (FDI) meeting in Islamabad.

The meeting was briefed on the challenges confronting the vaccination programme and the strategy to be adopted for the future.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister directed the concerned officials to draw up a plan to run an effective, countrywide campaign to save the children from 12 deadly diseases.

The purpose of the campaign, he added, should be to make parents realize that they should get their children vaccinated against these diseases. “And if parents do not bring their children to vaccination centers, it means they are not their well-wishers.”

Mustafa said that the focus of his ministry was on making parents realize that prevention was better than the cure. “We have to save our children from diseases,” he said, adding, “And it is the duty of parents to get their children vaccinated.”
