The federal government has fixed the value of diyat at Rs19,352,390 for the financial year 2026-27, according to a notification issued by the Finance Division.
The amount has been determined as the equivalent value of 30,630 grams of silver under Section 323 of the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860.
The notification said the revised diyat amount would remain applicable during the 2026-27 financial year.
Diyat is financial compensation payable to the legal heirs of a victim in cases covered under the relevant provisions of criminal law.
