The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday traded in negative territory with the benchmark KSE-100 Index registering loss, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
At the close of business, the index stood at 177,623.88 points, down by 638.45 points, or -0.36% from the previous day’s close of 178,262.33.
Overall, investor sentiment remained subdued, with profit-taking and cautious positioning keeping the benchmark index under pressure despite a partial recovery from the session's early lows.
Market participants were expected to monitor developments throughout the afternoon to gauge whether the index can recover further or end the day in negative territory.
Earlier in the session, the market had fallen to 177,914.38 at 9:39 am, reflecting a decline of 347.95 points (0.20%) before trimming some of its losses.
During the session, the index touched an intraday high of 179,123.00 and a low of 177,903.87, highlighting volatile trading as investors remained cautious.
Market activity, however, remained healthy, with 339.48 million shares changing hands, while the total traded value reached approximately Rs19.71 billion.
Earlier on Monday, after days of selling pressure, buying returned at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) with the benchmark KSE-100 Index extending gains throughout the trading session, closing the day up by 4.23%.
The market then traded in an upward trajectory throughout the day, with gains accelerating in the afternoon as investors stepped up purchases across key sectors, pushing the index to an intra-day high of 178,588.33.
At close, the benchmark index settled at 178,262.33, up 7,241.13 points or 4.23%.
