Pakistani religious scholar Dr Ejaz Waris has strongly criticized YouTuber Zulqarnain Sikandar over a recent vlog related to his father-in-law's heart attack, saying deeply personal family emergencies should never be turned into online content.
Sharing his reaction on social media, Dr Ejaz expressed disappointment over what he described as the growing obsession with creating content at any cost. Alongside his post, he wrote, "Heart attack hojaye but vlog nahi rukna chahiye. How insensitive we have become in this new era?"
Through his message, Dr Ejaz questioned how social media culture has reached a point where even painful family moments are documented for online audiences.
He argued that when a loved one suffers a medical emergency, a family's attention should be focused entirely on the patient instead of recording videos or creating content.
Referring to Zulqarnain's YouTube vlog, Dr Ejaz claimed that the video largely consisted of lighthearted moments and laughter, while the heart attack was only mentioned toward the end. He added that he had expected a more responsible approach from someone with such a large online following.
According to Dr Ejaz, Zulqarnain had built a reputation as a responsible content creator, which is why he found the vlog especially disappointing. He questioned whether such deeply personal family moments should be shared publicly instead of being treated as private matters.
The scholar also argued that using the incident involving Kanwal Aftab's father in a vlog reflected, in his view, a growing lack of emotional sensitivity. He stressed that relationships, compassion, and family values should always come before creating online content, particularly during times of crisis.
