Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon candidly spoke about nepotism in the film industry, sharing her personal experiences as an outsider navigating Bollywood.
Speaking at a special session hosted by Anchor and News Editor Heena Gambhir, Kriti acknowledged that nepotism exists in all industries but noted that Bollywood often draws the most attention. “I don’t hail from a film family or have any connections.
So yes, it can feel a bit overwhelming in Mumbai, but I genuinely feel the industry has welcomed me warmly from the very start, from my debut film, and I am truly thankful for that,” she said.
Reflecting on her journey from modeling to acting, Kriti stressed that each newcomer faces unique challenges. “Indeed, nepotism is present in every industry. It may take time to receive the opportunities you truly desire. However, if you put in the effort and remain committed, you will eventually achieve it.
You simply need to keep improving your skills and stay determined without giving up,” she added.
When asked if she had ever missed out on roles to star kids, Kriti replied honestly: “Countless times. Even if not a star kid, then someone else. Many actors today do not come from film backgrounds and are thriving. Ultimately, talent is what truly matters.”
Kriti also shared her perspective on future generations. “If I have a child who wishes to pursue acting, they will have easier access because of the connections I have.
But ultimately, it is talent that ensures longevity. You might secure a few opportunities quickly, but it is your resonance with the audience that determines whether you remain or fade away,” she explained.
