Pakistan's 65-year-old Maqsood Amjad Rathore won a gold medal in the 96kg weight category, bringing international glory to the country in the senior division, reported 24News HD TV channel on Wednesday.

Competing in the 96 kg category, Rathore delivered a strong performance by lifting a total of 125 kilograms, which earned him the top podium spot in his category.

His lifts included 55 kilograms in the snatch and 70 kilograms in the clean and jerk, showcasing remarkable strength and technique at his age.

Held in Doha, Qatar, the ongoing Asian Masters Championship has attracted veteran lifters from across the continent.

A total of 10 Pakistani athletes are participating in the championship, which continues until May 31.

The event provides a platform for seasoned lifters to demonstrate their enduring fitness and passion for the sport.
