Pakistan's Vice Prime Minister Ishaq Dar will visit Hong Kong from May 29 to May 30, where he will attend the signing ceremony of the International Organisation for Mediation (IOMed) convention. The visit is aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful international dispute resolution and enhancing diplomatic ties.
Dar will officially sign the IOMed convention on May 30 and is also scheduled to address the ceremony. The event will take place in Hong Kong, a Special Administrative Region of China, as confirmed by Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan.
During his visit, the Vice Prime Minister will also hold several bilateral meetings with international delegates to discuss matters of mutual interest and cooperation.
The Foreign Office emphasised Pakistan's unwavering belief in the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter, effective implementation of Security Council resolutions, and adherence to international law as crucial steps toward promoting global peace, security, and prosperity.
According to Shafqat Ali Khan, mediation, diplomacy, dialogue, and international cooperation are vital pillars of this inclusive approach to global engagement. Pakistan, as a founding member of IOMed, fully supports the organisation’s goals and objectives.
He further stated that Pakistan recognises the organisation's capability in offering peaceful and reconciliatory solutions to international disputes and looks forward to contributing to its mission.
