Entry of motorcycle rickshaws has been banned on five model roads of Lahore for traffic improvement and civic safety, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Chairing a meeting, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has set a decisive deadline of 30 days to improve the traffic situation in Lahore.
The meeting was given detailed briefing on planning of modern traffic system, road safety and management under the leadership of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
A report on challans on helmets, riding on roofs and other violations was presented in the meeting.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that a vehicle going to another city will face action if it reaches it at high speed.
She said traffic issues will have to be improved in all cities including Lahore.
Maryam Nawaz said there should be no discrimination and everyone will have to pay a fine for violation.
I am giving the traffic police the last chance, they will not get the next chance, if they cannot do it, a new department will have to be formed, Maryam Nawaz warned.
She said everything has been fixed but traffic is bad.
Violation of traffic rules and continuous chaotic traffic is tantamount to weakening the state writ, Maryam Nawaz said.
