Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and Australia’s Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke held a video-link meeting on Friday to discuss security arrangements and bilateral cooperation ahead of the Australian cricket team’s forthcoming tour of Pakistan.
According to 24NewsHD TV, Naqvi briefed the Australian minister in detail on the measures Pakistan has planned to ensure the team’s safety.
The discussion extended to broader security cooperation and issues of mutual interest, with both sides agreeing to establish a joint working group aimed at expanding bilateral collaboration.
They also reached an understanding to strengthen joint efforts against illegal immigration, while exploring avenues for cooperation between Australian agencies and Pakistan’s National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency and the Federal Investigation Agency.
Potential training programmes for officers of police and paramilitary forces were also discussed as part of efforts to deepen institutional linkages between the two countries.
During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi invited Burke to visit Pakistan, a gesture that underscored the commitment of both governments to enhancing long-term cooperation.
The two ministers concluded the meeting by reaffirming their resolve to further solidify bilateral relations.
