The federal government on Thursday approved a fresh round of transfers and postings in the federal bureaucracy, bringing key changes to police, planning and administrative positions.
According to official notifications issued by the Establishment Division, senior Police Service Grade-21 officer Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry has been appointed the new Inspector General of the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP). Chaudhry, who was serving in the Punjab government, will assume charge on December 1, following the retirement of the incumbent IG B.A. Nasir on November 30.
In another significant appointment, the Prime Minister has named Lt. Col. (retd) Waqas Anwar as Member Planning Commission (Infrastructure and Regional Connectivity) on a two-year contract. Meanwhile, SP Capt. (retd) Saleem Abbas Kalachi, a Grade-18 Police Service officer who had been awaiting posting, has been transferred to the Federal Constabulary.
Further administrative reshuffling includes the transfer of Dr. Muhammad Tariq Moj, Additional Secretary at the Planning Division, who has now been posted as Secretary of the Federal Public Service Commission. Additionally, Jamil Akhtar Khan, previously serving as an OSD, has been appointed Deputy Secretary in the Revenue Division, while Deputy Secretary Muhammad Khan Babar has been made OSD.
The series of changes is part of the government’s ongoing administrative adjustments aimed at improving efficiency across key federal departments.
